         Environment from the threat of Bush Fire


Hillside is a small rural community located approximately 30 Km North-West of Sydney, NSW, Australia. Hillside Brigade area covers an area of approximately 32 sq. km. and comprises approximately 320 (mostly) rural properties.

Hillside Rural Fire Brigade was established in 1940 and is run and administered entirely by volunteers. It is one of 16 volunteer brigades, Communications and Canteen units within Baulkham Hills Shire.

Baulkham Hills Shire (District) with approximately 590 active volunteer members, is one of 35 Rural Fire Service (RFS) Districts and 10 RFS Zones which form part of NSW Rural Fire Service - Region East. With an population of approximately 130,000 and an area of approximately 400 sq.kms., the Shire has significant areas of urban interface.

Region East encompasses the densely populated Sydney basin, the coastal zones north to Port Macquarie and south to Kiama and stretches inland to Bathurst, Muswellbrook and Merriwa.
